Studio Information

Dear Student,

Thank you for your interest in taking music lessons with me. Students of all levels benefit from
my background in performance, education and psychology as they develop effective technique,
musicianship, and confidence! Music will be drawn from classical, musical theater, popular
styles, and sacred music, depending on your interests. Lessons will include age appropriate
music books and lesson materials. Whether your goals are to pursue music as a hobby or as a
profession, I provide a nurturing learning environment and strive to instill a love of music that
will last a lifetime.

Voice Lessons

Beginning students learn the basics of breathing and sound production, gently increasing range and building technique over time. Lessons include ear training to help you recognize and sing on pitch. Beginners will learn melodies by ear at first, then progress to reading music. Students will explore the history behind each composer and composition. Children learn through fun, age appropriate activities and games in addition to demonstration and practice.

Advanced and professional level students will study and learn more difficult repertoire based on their skill level and interests. Lesson time may include sight singing and preparation for auditions, competitions, and performances. Students will have the opportunity to perform in a group classes and studio recitals to celebrate accomplishments, showcase your skills, and gain valuable performance experience in a supportive environment. A professional accompanist will be provided for rehearsals and for recitals. I encourage students to participate in National Association of Teachers of Singing Auditions, a wonderful sevelopmental experience.

Piano Lessons

Beginning students are introduced to the piano, and start to get a “feel” for the instrument during the first lesson. Then, we’ll start learning technique, note names for keys, and learning pre-reading pieces. As you progress, we’ll add note reading, music theory, and a bit about the history behind each composer and composition. This helps the student better comprehend and appreciate the music they learn and perform! In addition to the opportunity to perform in group classes and studio recitals, I encourage all my students to participate in The National Piano Guild Auditions.
